The Trials of Being a Home-based Business
|
Did you just start your own business? Are you an agent or affiliate of a larger organization? An insurance company? a real estate firm? a MLM or Network Marketing program? Or, perhaps, you purchased a franchise? No matter what style of business it is, even though they tell you,"You're not on your own," it sure feels like it, doesn't it? If you started your business from scratch, then you really are on your own. And, if you are working from home, that feeling of being isolated can be quite overwhelming.
Well, Congratulations for being courageous and taking the plunge! I have a great deal of admiration for you. I've done the same, so I have a very good idea of what you are feeling right now. It was thirty years ago when I started my first business – in my home – and turned it into a multi-million-dollar business. I started from scratch, and was scared to all blazes! But after you get things moving and your customers start paying you money, the feeling of achievement outweighs all the doubting and worry. In fact, it feels pretty darned good!
Still, I wish I'd had a consultant to lean on a bit, back then – someone who had experience with business and who would spare the time to understand what I was going through. Just having someone listen can be a help.
I couldn't find anyone to be my mentor when I started out, so I consulted a couple of friends to help me. Friends aren't always the best choice but I guesss I was lucky. They helped me get my business on its feet and on the road to success. Experienced mentors are absolutely necessary but hard to find, so I am making myself available now to consult with you, today. I figure that I must have learned quite a bit over the years, through the ups and downs, and through the successes and failures. What a shame if all that learning was to be used only once!
Here is an example of how my experience helped a client — A group of fitness trainers needed help to build their new franchise. I suggested some advertising techniques I had used in my own sales career and, together, we developed new ideas for advertising and promotion. Over the next three months, we saw the number of inquiries increase by approximarely 20%, the number of new sign-ups increase by about 10%, and the advertising cost per new client reduce considerably. My job is not to tell you how to run your business, but to discuss with you new and better ways of accomplishing what you want.
So, if you are feeling overwhelmed, shut in, lost, confused or simply need a business friend to talk to occasionally, let's get in touch.
Oh! and by the way, I now work alone and have my office in my home like those country doctors of old. So, I know exactly what you are going through.
May I mentor you? (Yes, Frederick! Let's do it!)
